Artist Statement

My artistic inspiration comes from nature, animals, and my personal emotional experiences. I especially enjoy the etching technique and most printmaking because it allows me to use various textures, linear work, and colors all on one plate or print. My art experiences have varied greatly. My father mentored me with his knowledge of art because he is an architect and a fine artist. He exposed me to many aspects of art including wood carvings, painting, paper mache, and architecture. Most of my work depicts elements in nature. I use animal imagery frequently because when I draw them I feel like they are immortal and “they can live forever”. Seeing birds in flight fascinates me greatly because of their colorful feathers and the way they are engineered. My signature work often depicts the world from my perspective of an animal, symbolizing the human condition and its relation to nature, time, and global crisis.
